Training Point Optimization, Conversion, and Skill Migration

TP Optimization

Every time your character gains a level (or every 125k experience for characters who have reached level 100), the system audits your Training Points (TPs) used, analyzing how you spent your TPs.  The skill manager then automatically optimizes how you utilize your training points, based on your past training.

For example, if a skill costs 3 Physical TPs and your character double trains in it, you will have spent 3 PTPs for the first rank and (2 * 3) = 6 PTPs for the second rank, for a total of 9 PTPs spent that level.  If at your next level you choose to not train in that skill at all, the skill manager will optimize your training, spreading the two ranks over your two levels at single-training costs (3 PTP per rank, rather than 3 PTP + 6 PTP) and saving you from having to pay the double cost for double training in a skill.  In this case, the optimization would give you back 3 PTPs.

Additionally, the skill optimizer will assess whether or not you have paid the double-TP cost for converting Physical TP to Mental TP, or vice versa.  For example, if you spent 8 MTPs on a skill that requires 4 PTPs, and then the next level you gained 4 PTPs you did not use, the TP Optimization will see that, give you back the 8 MTPs, and take away the 4 unused PTPs, thereby costing less Training Points overall.  Basically, the system ensures you spend the least amount of TPs possible for the skills you trained in, every time you level up.  There is no way you can lose!

TP Conversion and Skill Migration

The Skill Migrator allows you to manage your skills and change them if necessary, but requires that you do so wisely, as there are restrictions on how many Training Points (TPs) can be converted over a given period of time.

The design allows for relatively easy conversion for small changes, but ensures that sweeping changes to a character are very rare (and likely better handled with the occasional instant conversions that can be gained).

In a 30 day period, the Skill Migrator allows 60 TPs to be converted at a rate of 1 point per 50 minutes.  After those initial 60 TPs are converted, the system will convert an additional 20 TPs (for a total of 80 TPs) at 1 point per 250 minutes, in that 30 day period.  If more than 80 points are converted in a 30 day period, the player has used up all of their rapid conversion time, and starts converting at the standard conversion rate of 1 point per 500 minutes.  Once the 30 day cycle is up, the Skill Migrator starts over with the fast conversion rate of 60 TPs at 1 point per 50 minutes.

Visually, the Skill Migrator will show the minimum time required to convert TPs.

For example, Grungel has 100 TPs that he wants to convert.  The system will display this conversion as Hours-to-Goal: 83+ hours, always displaying the fastest possible conversion time.

50 minutes/TP * 100 TP = 5000 minutes, or ~83 hours of playing time.

If Grungel wants to find out ACTUAL conversion time, he would need to keep track of how many TP he has converted that 30 day cycle, then estimate how many more hours he will play before the next cycle starts him back at the fast conversion rate.  Given that this is variable based on how often Grungel would play in a 30 day period, the display will only show fastest possible conversion time.
