The Character Auto-Converter
This system
will be a permanent fixture in GemStone IV, so that at any time if an old
GemStone III character returns to the game, it will work in GemStone IV. The character auto-converter rebuilds your
character based on your previous training plans. It is, of course, limited in that it can not
make decisions regarding new skills, or which skills you wish to drop. It also sets up every character of each
profession with the same stats. The
auto-converter works well for the vast majority of characters, however, we
expect most people will want to TWEAK their skill training, at least
slightly. We expect most people will
want to change their stats.
The Stat Reallocator
The state reallocator allows players to select new stats for their character if they do not like those chats chosen by the Auto-Converter. The reallocator is permanently available to characters who have converted from GemStone III.
Characters who have recently been created may also use the stat reallocator, but only for the first 30 since creation.
Each character may use the stat migrator a total of 5 times.
The stat
reallocator can be accessed by CHECKing IN at the
The Skill Manager (both text and graphical)
The skill manager is a permanent addition to GS4 to allow characters a chance to tweak their skills over time. During the first 30 days since a character has been converted to GS4 or rolled up, however, the skill manager will work in a near instantaneous fashion to allow for quick reallocation of characters. Once the 30 days are over, the skill manager will work much more slowly so that skill changes, as well as adding new skills, also work much more slowly.
In the first 3 days following a character’s convertion to GS4, skill migration is instantaneous. The following 27 days will allow for very rapid migration, approximately 30 minutes to an hour for a full migration.
There are
currently plans to make changing large numbers of ranks faster via the skill
manager so that you don’t have to click the +/- buttons over and over and
over. In the meantime, a character may

FIXSKILLS
FIXSKILLS is a one-time utility available to each individual character which will change a character’s actual skill ranks to match the current skill goals. In essence, FIXSKILLS eliminates the migration time normally in place when using the skill migrator.
To use the FIXSKILLS, a character will need to set their skill goals to the player’s satisfaction, then type FIXSKILLS.
Additional uses of FIXSKILLS are granted each year around May 20, the Festival of Oleani.
