General Town System
Changes
Shopkeepers and racial biases
Shopkeepers in towns may adjust their prices depending on a character’s race and citizenship status. For example, an Elf will receive better prices in Ta’Vaalor than a human, and a citizen of Wehnimer’s Landing will have better treatment while in the Landing than a non-citizen. Pricing adjustments will affect most shops, including buying items, as well as selling them.
New messaging has been put in place to clarify the pawnshop’s bias when selling items to adventurers. The shopkeeper refers to the character by their race, but other factors will affect the presence and severity of the shopkeeper’s bias, including Influence and the character’s citizenship.
Towns plan to ban demons?
In March, a new guild skill for sorcerers, Illusions, was released. This skill allows a skilled Sorcerer to make minor illusory effects and, once mastered, the ability to cast illusions on their minor demons. Demons under the effects of illusions will be able to enter towns that normally prohibit their presence.
With the coming of Illusions, some towns have taken the step to ban demons from their borders. Others allow demons freely, while still others allow them if the summoner has a permit issued by the town government. At this time, the permit system for such towns has not been put in place, however.
Party Tents Return to Western Cities
The party tent has been replaced near the Wedding Glade in Wehnimer’s Landing and the tents in Icemule and on Teras have been cleaned and the food restocked. Work is continuing on creating tents for Solhaven, River’s Rest and the Nations.
The tent token booths may be found in Elaraeyn’s Boutique in the Landing, as well as Flashfeet’s store in Icemule and Marienna’s store on Teras.
Surname Registry Available in All Major Towns
Surname
registry offices have opened for business in every major town. Customers may register their existing last
name, thus ensuring that they will be recognized as the legal owner of that
appellation for one year, with the option to renew. Although this service does entail a fee,
married couples may take on the name of their spouse at no charge. Individuals may also choose to share their
surnames with others, provided they appear before the clerk as a group. Further services will be added in the future.
The ability to change your last name will be granted after a fair amount of time has been given to allow existing last name owners to register their name. It has been estimated that the option to create new surnames for those without one will become available within the year.
