The Stitchery and Elegant Embellishments

Thanks to Vyrshkana and Elraena for supplying information used in this guide’s creation.

Both of these merchants work with the same system.

How to Use the System

  1. Hold item to be worked on in right hand.  You can hold a note in your left hand.
  2. OPEN the book.  For each step you’ll need to read the book again - it won’t automatically give you options.
  3. Do not forget to look at the book before turning the page.  There is a set of options on first opening the book.
  4. TELL the seamstress your choice for each option.  You must give the seamstress all options, even if the answer is none.
  5. When choosing a design category, TELL the seamstress the category, then turn the page and read it for the designs in that category.
  6. If you want to change the design category, you have to flip through all the pages, back to the beginning, and back to the design category page before you can tell the seamstress.
  7. If you want a divine symbol, the pattern choice must be “none.”
  8. You can ASK SEAMSTRESS ABOUT DESIGN at any time to see what you have so far.
  9. CLOSE the book twice to finish the work.  You’ll get the following messaging if you CLOSE it once: “If you want to do this: [design] close the book again in the next 30 seconds.”
  10. If you decide not to do anything, you can CLOSE the book before giving the seamstress all options and it will cancel the order. You can also TELL SEAMSTRESS TO CANCEL at any point, even when finished.

The Stitchery

[The Stitchery]

Warm, inviting shades of peach, mauve, and pale gold tastefully accent the light wood furnishings and trimwork in this shop. The walls are draped with swaths of rich silken fabric tinted in a variegated pattern, such that it is never quite clear where one shade fades gently into the next, and antique gold oil lamps hang at intervals around the perimeter of the room, casting a cheery glow. A small display of wares lies on a gold-edged table at the back of the room, and on the counter stands a leather-bound order book. You also see a small gold-framed sign, a buxom human seamstress and a glass-paned rosewood door.

Obvious exits: out

In the Common language, it reads:

If you’d like to add a little flair to your clothing items or containers, just OPEN up my BOOK and follow my instructions. Make sure you’re holding the item you want me to work on in your right hand. (I’m not blonde, but I’m still easily confused.) The fee for my service is 10,000 silvers. If you have a note on you, the fee will come from that first.

>open book

You carefully flip open the heavy cover of a leather-bound order book.

Marnie bustles over and gives you a warm smile before saying, “I see you’ve found my order book. Just turn the pages of the book and tell me your selections. Be sure you have the item you want me to work on in your right hand.”

Elegant Embellishments

[Elegant Embellishments]

Several tables are arrayed around this workroom, with piles of fabric samples, ribbons, buttons, and other sewing sundries strewn about their tops.  A high counter in the center of the room supports a large order book, and a harried-looking seamstress bustles from table to counter and back again, chatting with clients and making suggestions on the most flattering colors and styles as she works expertly at customizing gowns for young and old women alike.  You also see a fabric-bound order book, a willowy human seamstress and an engraved silver sign.

Obvious exits: northeast, east, southeast

In the Common language, it reads:

I specialize in gowns and dresses.  These are the only types of items I will work with.  If you’d like to add a special touch to your gown, just OPEN up my BOOK and follow my instructions.  Make sure you’re holding the item you want me to work on in your right hand.  (I’m not blonde, but I’m still easily confused.)  The fee for my service is 10,000 silvers.  If you have a note on you, the fee will come from that first.
