Official Auction Information
The Tower Hill family’s collection is massive -- so large as to elicit a great deal of jealousy, rage, greed, and murderous intent by those who wish to get their hands on prized items. This year’s offerings span from trinkets that perform feats of unbelievable magic to rare shields to odd, fuzzy little creatures.
If for any reason one of the visitors is unhappy with their item, they are able to exchange the item with one of the consolation prizes during the remainder of the event.
A full list of the items to be auctioned will be provided in the days leading up to the auction and will specify which items will be released on which day. Of course, the Tower Hill family wants everyone to have a small taste of what is to come, and thus it is said that a sample of what is to gain by those who enter is as follows:
· Elanthian real estate
· Defensive bonus items
· High-end weapons and armors of rare quality
· Rare magical relics, from spell casting to understanding other languages
· Unique items with custom flair and personality
· Unheard of tattoo types – a new experimental breed
From everything above to Chronomage daggers and exploding mushrooms to bottomless quivers, lightning swords, and dedicated Arkati relics, there is a little something for everyone to enjoy.
Auction Mechanics
To see what is up for bids, simply look at the list that is on the lectern. You’ll get a list of all the items that will be auctioned in that room, as well as what is up for bids in both auction rooms.
Items begin in storage, and the only way to see them is to look at the list on the lectern. Items will be released from storage into a chest in the auction room until the chest has approximately five total. The auctioneer will choose from these which item to put up for auction by moving it onto the table nearby. When the item is on the table, it can be inspected, looked at and appraised to get more information on its construction. After moving an item onto the table for bids, the auctioneer may offer some information on the item’s properties, and then will give some time for the bidders to ask questions for more information. Once the bidding begins, however, questions should end.
Those wishing to bid in either auction room will receive a token when they arrive. Keep in mind that the token is not a physical item. Don’t worry about losing it.
To bid on an item you wish to win in a token auction (the Azure Chamber), simply BID TOKEN. You will cast your token and you will be entered. Once the bidding is closed, all tokens will be collected and a winner will be chosen from the token exactly as if in a raffle. Those whose tokens have not been chosen will get their token back and are free to bid on other items up for bid in a token auction. The winner pays for their item with their token and does not receive it back. If you change your mind about bidding your token, use WITHDRAW TOKEN to pull it back.
To bid on an item in the silver auction (the Jade Chamber), you will BID <amount> for how much you wish to bid, in silver. Silver bids can be made in straight numbers, such as 1000, or can be made in terms of thousands or millions by using ‘k’ or ‘m’ at the end, such as 100k or 2m. Decimals are also recognized, so you can make a bid of 7.5k if you so choose.
You can only bid how many silvers you have with you in cash or notes at the time. There are no runners and Premium checkbooks will not work. The auctioneer will acknowledge your bid if it is the highest. It is possible that bids will be required to be at least 10% greater than the current high bid, so be careful how much you want to bid! Again, the item’s winner will give up their token to get the item. One item per bidder, no matter which room it comes from.
When an item is sold, it is moved under the table where the winner can pick it up. If the winner is unable to pick it up (unable to handle the bonus, for example), he can ask the auctioneer for help.
Official Auction Times
The auction will take place over the opening weekend of Ebon Gate. Half of the auction items will be released on Saturday and half on Sunday. The auctioneers will work each day in three shift times -- noon Eastern, 4pm Eastern and 8pm Eastern. Each shift will cycle through a set batch of items until all of the items have been auctioned, the next cycle starts, or no further bids are put out for the items remaining in the current batch. Items will move quickly, so do not miss out!
Auction Items
The following lists are for the items for sale. It is not in order of when the items will go out. The order is random instead, so something at the end could be the first to go out.

Tiny lines and waves are etched into the surface of the stone, forming little geometric patterns that appear to have no purpose but beauty. The torc bears a small circular slot which looks like it would fit a gold ring, which is encircled by a slender dial bearing five peculiar runes. |

a crystal-cored fireleaf staff - rune creator staff, runestaff - leaves a fiery rune in the air when raised, marking one’s path - rune will be unique to the person who creates it - +37 - THW, rune staff base - 35/305 - show: Burnished fireleaf comprises much of the length of this staff, the center of which has been cut away to reveal translucent red crystal beneath the wood. The same blood-hued stone forms a perfect sphere at the tip of the staff. A single dancing flame roars within the globe, sparking merrily though seemingly bereft of fuel or purchase. You also notice a small enchanter’s glyph. |

Otherwise, the beauty of the polished wood’s satin-finished face is left unsullied by overwhelming adornment. Inlaid golden runes form a rough spiral down the back of the shield, which boasts a leather-wrapped handle. You also notice a small enchanter’s glyph. |

a swirled gold and brass disk inlaid with cabochon emeralds - called a “Chronomage Ticket Disk” - produces one Chronomage ticket per day for travel between Solhaven and River’s Rest (or perhaps to either of those towns instead) - show: This glittering disk is small enough to fit comfortably into a human’s hand and about as thick as a finger. An exquisite piece of metalsmithing, the disk is crafted of gold and brass intricately engraved with interlocking whorls. A cabochon emerald is set at the center of the disk, and a ring of gold along the outer rim, inset flush with the body of the disk, appears to be able to rotate to move a narrow window around the circumference. Currently, the text “Solhaven” shows in the window. |

a blackened silver ora coffer - called an “alter box” - add an item and a gem, then close the box to create a simple alter using both item and gem - known to work with weapons, shoes, belts and containers - does not work with cobbled shoes and perhaps other player-created pieces - appears not to work with items with shows - does not appear to break, or have a limit on uses - not worn, holds very large for a couple items - show: A pattern of tiny red rubies and garnets spills across the surface of the box. Were they not inlaid into its smoothly reflective surface, they might appear haphazardly scattered in a fit of whimsy. Herons worked of blued mithril lacquer adorn the sides of the box. Their emerald eyes wink and dance with green fire. The clasp sealing the coffer is an inordinately complex confection wrought of interlocking thread-thin mithril bars. |

Trefoil leaves of sullen red copper adorn the gentle slope of the band, so delicate and lifelike in appearance that it seems they might stir in a passing breeze. Hints of a smooth golden surface wink between the leaves like glimpses of sunlight through a forest canopy. You also notice a small enchanter’s glyph. |

an amethyst-set enameled ora ring - called a fire ring, summons small balls of purple fire to play with - recharges with fire spells - requires 1 rank of MIU to use - fingerworn, functional - show: Violet enamel forms a series of waves that wash over the rim of the wide band, matching the hue but not the brilliance of the rich-hued inlaid amethyst that crowns it. The stone is cut in a manner that enhances its natural fire such that the glinting reflected luminescence within never seems to go dim. Etched into the reverse of the band are jagged patterns of stylized flame. |

Tiny shards of blue sapphire wink from the metal, each polished to a smoothness like the surface of a still pond. Beautifully crafted and well balanced, you are not quite sure you have ever seen a espadon so finely made. Obviously elven workmanship, this espadon has ancient elven runes running along the blade. But alas, not being an elf, you can’t make out what knowledge they seek to impart. - show for elven races: Tiny wisps of smoke rise from the vaalorn espadon’s blade. Beautifully crafted and well balanced, you are not quite sure you have ever seen a espadon so finely made. Forged by elves many, many years ago, the vaalorn espadon’s blade crawls with runes telling of the great battles between the elves and the trolls. The runes bespeak of the power of this espadon and its dedicated purpose of locating and dispatching trolls and their kin. |

a slim-bladed black alloy greataxe - ShadowDeath weapon, currently 5x but enchant will vary - 70/155 - THW, battle axe base - Gilie says, “They have two attacks - one that works against the living only, and another that is a flaring attack. They will do some fairly heavy damage as well.” - Gilie says, “ShadowDeath weapons are exceptionally difficult to create, as they require a darken or a soulstone and a very dark place to forge the weapon. They literally are darken/sentient souls bound to the weapon and are therefore the worst sort of evil.” - Oyr says, “ShadowDeath weapons have two attack modes...” - Oyr says, “One is a life drain attack, which only works on the living.” - Oyr says, “The second is a straight flaring attack, which is inflicted on the target as a lifedrain attack.” - Oyr says, “There is a ceiling on the damage it causes.” - show: Dripping tendrils of shadow cling to the impressive length of the greataxe’s slender blade, growing less substantial and sublimating into dark mist as they part from the weapon completely. The stygian metal seems, at times, to be caught in state between liquidity and solidity, but its true edge is never less than razor-sharp. Faint carmine ornamentation is visible through the twitching and blurring of the blade. Above a hilt wrapped in mottled white leather, the guard is a simple twist of golden metal. You also notice a small enchanter’s glyph. |

a muted grey canvas sack - beltworn, holds medium for any number of items - contains a wrinkly shrunken orc head with a sickly grey pallor - Gilie says, “It provides a chance to catch thieves in the act, in which case the head will perform one of several actions including alarming the room and injuring the thief.” - Gilie says, “Oh and I’m told that they like to munch on snacks, so if you do get it, you should be careful where you store it.” - Gilie rubs her shrunken orc head, causing a small amount of dandruff to fall from its scalp. The muscles in the head’s face relax and it goes quiet. - Gilie waves her shrunken orc head around in the air, and it begins jabbering frantically in an unknown tongue! - Gilie violently shakes her shrunken orc head. A small vein bulges momentarily in the shrunken orc head’s temple. - head show: The wrinkly grey skin has been pulled tight on the head, which appears once to have belonged to an orc. The head has oily black hair and a flat stumpy nose. Barbed metal stitches have been sewn along the neck and eyelids of the head. The stitches are coated with a layer of brownish-black crust composed of blood and dirt. |

a calligraphed pallid vellum certificate - used to change an armor’s subgroup - may only change armor within its group (soft leather stays as soft leather, for example) - armor weight will change, maintains the same proportion to the standard weight as the original armor - must be redeemed in 30 days - show: Swirls of rose gold cling to the edges of the certificate, forming sharp-edged geometric patterns that slacken into lazy spirals toward the stiff parchment’s center, giving way to fanciful calligraphy in reflective black ink. The words glisten like beads of onyx against the stark white paper beneath. - read in Plat: This certificate authorizes the bearer to receive services from the merchant Vagrand on the grounds of Velathae, or the merchant Gostika beyond the walls of the village. Either shall be willing to redeem it and can completely rebuild a piece of armor into another class while preserving all of its other capabilities, less its given encumbrance, intact. The ring culminates in an elaborate half-bezel setting which cradles a pear-cut iridescent pale brown crystal. The pale brown hues of the crystal shimmer in the ambient light, lending the illusion of neverending depths. The crystal leans slightly to the left in its setting. |

a phenomenal bubble flare certificate - certificate for “Super Bubble Flare” service - Bubble flares from Ebon Gate 2008 were added to weapons. When the weapons flared, a bubble appeared to grant the wielder the equivalent of heavy damage padding for a minute that stacked with other padding in place. Flaring again refreshed the duration. - The “super bubble flares” will provide much higher protection. The creator has speculated that the wielder might not take damage unless uphunting beyond what they should be hunting, and with haste might remain invulnerable for entire battles. It also lasts a minute, refreshes with a new flare and stacks with existing padding. - Bubble flares only may be placed on melee weapons up to +35 with no existing scripts, flares, weighting and so on. a twisted white gold ring - called a “wyrdling ring” - appears to allow a wizard to summon unique wyrdling familiars when 920 is cast at it - cast a spell of a specific element at the ring to set the type of wyrdling summoned to that element (for example, cast minor water at the ring to summon water wyrdlings) - must know how to cast 920 from training or a scroll (said in Prime that only wizards can use) - allows a wizard to summon a wyrdling not of the wizard’s attuned element - can turn the ring to change other attributes of the wyrdling - not alterable - show: Rose-veined white gold twines about itself to form an unusually twisted ring, each twist demarcated by a tiny etching of one of the five elements: air, earth, fire, lightning, and water. The ring culminates in an elaborate half-bezel setting which cradles a pear-cut iridescent pale brown crystal. The pale brown hues of the crystal shimmer in the ambient light, lending the illusion of neverending depths. The crystal leans slightly to the right in its setting. |

a phenomenal bubble flare certificate - certificate for “Super bubble Flare” service - Bubble flares from Ebon Gate 2008 were added to weapons. They do not add to a person’s defense and work best for those people who do get hit in battle. - read in Common: The bearer of this certificate is entitled to the addition of “Phenomenal Bubble Flares” to an eligible weapon of choice. It must be redeemed by the 6th of Eoantos (November 6th, 2009) or the prize is forfeit. For information on redeeming, contact GM Cirath (GS4-CIRATH@PLAY.NET). ~Ebon Gate Auction, 5109. |

Barely visible, but with a vivid enough hue to create a startling contrast, deep scarlet lace peeks out from the hem of ebony. - despanal show: Cut with precision, the sapphire is faceted to reflect light from multiple angles, resulting in a resplendent display of brilliance around the stone. The ends of the hairsticks are sheathed in lustrous inlays of black pearl backed with vultite, and delicate script is barely visible along one side. - vatanura show: A dark silk vatanura with heart-patterned blackwork, made in classic erithi style, is masterfully folded to reveal a repeating pattern in the fine silk. The vatanura winds securely around two scabbards that are designed to rest off the left hip. The first, a flame-carved black jade scabbard, is set slightly forward and lower than the second, a panther-agate inlaid obsidian scabbard. Both are angled for a quick draw in combat. - atanika show: The atanika has layers of jade green silk overlaid with silks of black and other dark shades. Each layer is a matte hue, so as not to reflect light, and the innermost layer is backed with a warm lining of softened black wool. A small jade heart tips one inner tie of dark silk, and a nathalene lotus tips the other. - note show: The creamy ivory vellum of this note is covered in black script. Written in Common, the handwriting is distinctive in its precise lettering and slightly spiky formulation. - note read in Common: Within this trunk lies items of historical value to the erithi. The husband-wife vigilante team known as the Blue Lotus and Jade Heart were thought to be merely children’s tales for hundreds of years. We beseech the new owner to consider donating the trunk and its contents to the library at Eloth-Ra for study. ~Chief Scholar Isienaka |

a black rolaren war hammer - 5x - heavily damage weighted - bonus to mana recovery, stamina recovery and max health - blunt, war hammer base - 80/220 - show: Though obviously ancient, the rolaren hammer has withstood the tests of time and remains a testament to the skill of the weaponsmith who forged it. Seemingly made of one piece of black as night rolaren, the metal has been shaped into the perfect weapon. Small polished silver eostones have been inlaid along the rolaren haft, and a strip of tanned vruul hide has been tightly wrapped around the handle to provide a better grip. The hammer head itself has been formed into the shape of a clenched fist. You also notice a small enchanter’s glyph. |

Once achieved, she gives the front of the garment a quick tug with both hands. - Frenkee pats down the pockets of her leather cloak. - Frenkee turns to the left, pushing the fabric of her leather cloak from her right hip in the process. a phenomenal bubble flare certificate - certificate for “Super bubble Flare” service - Bubble flares from Ebon Gate 2008 were added to weapons. ~Ebon Gate Auction, 5109. |

a lacquered black travel chest - contains a set of erithian clothing, all scripted (more so for erithi) - contains: a pair of celestial agate hairsticks with end caps of darkened gold, a black and dark blue silk ataniki, a sturdy dark linen vatanura edged with black silk lotus blossoms and an elegant ivory note - hairsticks turn into a pair of sai - one sai is 6x and flares, other is 5x, defender, enhances TWC and dodge - chest show: Well-preserved but very old, this chest is small enough to secure comfortably on one’s back with the attached black suede straps, but just large enough to hold gear for a trip. Latches of lacquered ebon bamboo reinforced with mithril close the chest, and an elaborate lotus blossom is carved into the lid. - hairsticks show: The translucent black of the celestial agate sticks is swirled with patterns of silver-shot stars. Gold, heavy and dark, sheaths the end of each hairstick and is covered in abstract engravings. Delicate script winds its way amidst the arabesques, and a blue lotus carved from exquisitely pure nathalene caps each hairstick. - ataniki show: The ataniki has layers of shadowed blue-black silk overlaid with silks of black and other dark greens. Each layer is a matte hue, so as not to reflect light, and the innermost layer is backed with a warm lining of softened black wool. A small jade heart tips one inner tie of dark silk, and a nathalene lotus tips the other. - vatanura show: A sturdy dark linen vatanura edged with black silk lotus blossoms, made in classic erithi style, is masterfully folded to reveal a repeating pattern in the fine linen. The vatanura winds securely around two scabbards that are designed to rest off the left hip. The first, a nathalene-inlaid onyx scabbard, is set slightly forward and lower than the second, an acid-etched ebonwood scabbard. Both are angled for a quick draw in combat. (scripted katana sash) - note read in Common: Within this chest lies items of historical value to the erithi. The husband-wife vigilante team known as the Blue Lotus and Jade Heart were thought to be merely children’s tales for hundreds of years. We beseech the new owner to consider donating the chest and its contents to the library at Eloth-Ra for study. ~Chief Scholar Isienaka |
