Official Auction Information

The eccentric collectors that lived in the tower on Tower Hill have opened their family heirlooms and collection to the visitors of Velathae for a glorious auction!

Since they cannot bring their wondrous possessions through the Ebon Gate, they have decided to disperse the collection to those who gain entrance into the Tower for the auctions over the weekend.  Some say that this is a means to uncurse the family for their greed and unsavory collection practices.  The Tower Hill family collection was extremely well known during its time and for many years after, but it was also filled with whispered rumors of theft and unfair gain.

Each ticket holder will receive a Tower Hill Auction Token to use in the two event areas: Raffle and Auction (silvers).  In the raffle area, the items are raffled off to the individuals who submit their tokens for a particular item.  The auction area is for those who want to attempt to win the item with silvers by submitting their token for a chance to participate in the auctioning of an item.

The winner will walk away with their high quality item and those that did not win may reuse their token to try their luck again.  If for any reason one of the visitors is unhappy with their item, they are able to exchange the item with one of the consolation prizes during the remainder of the event.

Consolation Prizes

1.  Alteration scroll

2.  Feature alteration

3.  500 premium points

4.  Mayhem tattoo (highly scripted tattoo that may change shape and location on the body)

5.  Enhancive item recharging

The auction will take place over the opening weekend of Ebon Gate.  Half of the auction items will be released on Feastday (Saturday) and half on Restday (Sunday).  The auctioneers will begin each day at 12:00 Elven (noon EST) and cycle through the batch until all items have been auctioned.  Items will move quickly, so do not miss out!

Auction Mechanics

Note: This information is taken from the mechanics of the Solstice Dreams Auction of December 2005.  Mechanics may be different at the Ebon Gate Festival.

Those wishing to bid in a token auction (those in the gold and silver rooms) will receive a token when they board the ship.  Keep in mind that the token is not a physical item.  Don’t worry about losing it.

To bid on an item you wish to win in a token auction, simply BID TOKEN.  You will cast your token and you will be entered.  Once the bidding is closed, all tokens will be collected and a winner will be chosen from the token exactly as if in a raffle.  Those whose tokens have not been chosen will get their token back and are free to bid on other items up for bid in a token auction.

To bid on an item in the silver auction, you will BID <amount> for how much you wish to bid, in silver.  You can only bid how many silvers you have in cash or notes at the time.  The auctioneer will acknowledge your bid if it is the highest at the time.  It is possible that bids will be required to be at least 10% greater than the current high bid, so be careful how much you want to bid!

an amber-inlaid mesille short bow

 - ranged, short bow base, 40/200, can load wands into bow to give arrows elemental flares, said to flare on every shot

 - show: The golden brown wood bears intricate carvings over much of its body in the style of a sylvan artisan.  The image of a lithe wood nymph is prominent on the upper limb, dancing beneath the boughs of a great aspen.  Carved amber pieces have been inlaid into the wood, depicting the leaves of the tree, and several more amber leaves drift down the lower limb, both to complete the image and to balance the weapon.  Inlaid silver sigils near the bow's grip represent the powers of fire, ice, lightning, and acid.  You also see a small opening along the grip.

 - badelaire 95/225, 5x, weighs 5, heavy crit weighting, main gauche 38/255, 4x/2x, weighs 2, case beltworn and holds medium for any number of items

 - badelaire show: The years have been unkind to this nicked and pockmarked falchion.  Though the blade itself is strong, it bears only hints of burnished etching, and braided accent that once gilded the spine is now little more than a lumpy border.  The long hilt is wrapped in layers of black hide with edges so worn that they bear a silvered sheen.  The pommel and guard, once ornately carved, are nearly featureless save for a hint of gilding that clings to the rolaren and the pit where some jewel once graced the pommel.  You also notice a small enchanter’s glyph.

 - main gauche show: The single sharp edge of this rolaren blade is notched from heavy use, and the flat is jagged with a row of thick, hooked teeth perfect for catching and snapping a blade.  A tarnished half-basket hilt with two fluted bars on the outside frames a blackened skin grip bound with silver wire.

a silk and wool tapestry music case

 - holds an onyx-inlaid mistwood zither, master quality, case has a few other “quirks,” case is beltworn and holds very small for one item

 - case show: Elaborately stitched silk and wool fabric has been fashioned into a soft, protective case perfect for the cosseting of a single instrument.  Worked into this tapestry is a picture of a group gathered at the edge of a forest, enjoying a picnic.  Amid the revelers sits a bard playing an elegant white zither.  Deep in the trees a large stag has stopped, head upraised, seemingly rapt by the musician’s song.

 - zither show: The naturally fragile mistwood comprising the body of this pale, slightly sickle-shaped zither has been treated with rich oils.  These applications have strengthened the delicate, ghostly pale wood and brought out a finely speckled silver grain.  Onyx mournblooms are inlaid along the soundbox, set amid silver-chased vines.  The dark vine-entangled blossoms beneath the gleaming metal strings provide a contrast and depth unusual in mistwood instruments.
