On the sanded wooden counters you see a sharply-cut slice of hard cheese, some square chili-dusted cheese, a block of pepper-crusted cheese, some waxy bright orange cheese, some green-striated cheese, a round of wax-covered red cheese and a button of soft herbal cheese.

Properties unknown, show

a sharply-cut slice of hard cheese (6k, 401, 20 bites)

some square chili-dusted cheese (7875, 602, 15 bites)

a block of pepper-crusted cheese (7k, 102, 20 bites)

some waxy bright orange cheese (7k, 202, 16 bites)

some green-striated cheese (6k, 113, 10 bites)

a round of wax-covered red cheese (6k, 103, 15 bites)

a button of soft herbal cheese (6k, 603, 15 bites)

Slice of hard cheese show: The cheese has a hard paper and wax rind.  Its body is equally hard.  The cheese is cut into a thin triangular slice, from which the tip has broken away.

Chili-dusted cheese show: A sprinkle of chili powder coats the cheese.  The reddish-black substance is little more than a dusting, laid over a soft white square.

Pepper-crusted cheese show: Covering the soft white cheese is a coating of peppercorns.  Pink, black, green, and red comingle, forming a pebbled crust.

Bright orange cheese show: The bright cheese is almost unnaturally orange.  Its texture is smooth, its lustre waxy, and its top carved with the faint image of a star.

Green-striated cheese show: Thick bands of green mark the white meat of the cheese.  The contrast is sharp.

Wax-covered red cheese show: The simple round of cheese is covered in a thick layer of hardened wax.  Stamped into the shell is the frontal visage of a horned bull.

Soft herbal cheese show: The small cylinder of cheese is thumbnail-impression soft.  Its white color is flecked with green and brown, pieces of the dried herbs mixed into its body.  Pressed into the top of the button is a single sprig of rosemary.

In the glass cases you see a crumbly piece of white cheese, a wet lump of milky white cheese, a scored brick of yellow cheese, some blue-veined cheese, a slender slice of blue cheese, a half-round of yellow cheese and a red square of soft dessert cheese.

some blue-veined cheese (12k, 107, 20 bites)

a slender slice of blue cheese (6k, 101, 20 bites)

a half-round of yellow cheese wrapped in waxed red paper (11250, no show, 507, 15 bites)

a red square of soft dessert cheese (6330, 114, 10 bites)

Piece of white cheese show: Barely held together, the crumbly cheese has little cohesiveness.  It is comprised of many smaller pieces of equally crumbly cheese.  The entire enterprise is a study in fractals -- and cheese.

Milky white cheese show: The surface of the white cheese is dewy with perspiration.  Beads of milky liquid collect on the rindless lump.

Blue-veined cheese show: Twining veins of sapphire blue mold wend here and there throughout the cheese.  They split into thinner capillaries, spread into a network of fine striations of flavoring.

Slice of blue cheese show: The cheese is a thin square slice, white, with a pale bluish cast.  A few flecks of darker blue mark its surface.

Soft dessert cheese show: Carved into a perfect square, the bright red cheese has a sticky, tactile quality.  It is of a middling hardness -- not quite soft and not truly hard.

On the silver tray you see a squat cube of purplish cheese, a sphere of milk-white cheese, a flat disk of marbled orange cheese, a half-dome of salty white cheese, some wrapped blue cheese, some gelatinous red quince paste, a chunk of rock-hard cheese, a bulb-handled short cheese knife and a three-tined silver cheese fork.

a half-dome of salty white cheese (9k, 604, 20 bites)

some gelatinous red quince paste (10k, 203, 20 bites)

Milk-white cheese show: Molded into a faintly bulbous sphere, the cheese is the color of fresh milk -- creamy yellowish-white.  Its surface is rindless and elastic.

Marbled orange cheese show: Streaks of white marble the cheese, twined through the orange disk like veins of fat in flesh.

Salty white cheese show: Tiny specks of sea salt gleam through the otherwise flat-white cheese.

Red quince paste show: Firm but almost shapeless, the paste is a quivering mass of dark red.  Inside its jellied, translucent bulk are a few scattered seeds.

1k, show, has writing that can’t be read from the shelf

a bulb-handled short cheese knife (edged, dagger base)

a three-tined silver cheese fork (not worn, no pockets)

Knife show: The short knife has a triangular blade and an oversized haft.  A band of black separates the metal and wood.
