[Jovun’s Forge] – room E7, an oiled iron-railed haulageway

Location of Jovun

Mechanical flares have three types: thin metal spikes, slender metal blades and thick metal rods.  Spikes deal piercing damage, blades deal slashing damage and rods deal crushing damage.  Flares will hit the same location that the initial strike hit.  Flaring ranged ammunition require the shot to stick in a target for the flare to go off.

All weapons have the following show: Two <flare type> are attached to the handle of the <weapon>.  They are angled so that they lie parallel to one another, against the length of the weapon.  Tightly coiled steel springs are clearly visible beneath the <flare type>.  The springs appear to be in <condition>.

In the Common language, it reads:

You’re all in fer a big treat, me friends.  Me partner in business, Jovn, and I have been long collaborating on our wares.  The mechanical flares themselves be his work, but I’ve always forged his weapons fer him b’fore.  Now we present to you mechanical weapons sold off-the-shelf.  Actually, they’re our failed attempts from the last batch -- we auctioned all of the successes off on the WaveDancer.  The springs on these cheaper versions will eventually break and require Jovn or I to repair them.

In the Common language, it reads:

Ye’ll find that when ye look at these weapons, it’ll state the condition o’ their springs.  Makes it easy ta tell when repair will be needed soon.  Also check me blade-flaring arrows!  They spring open AFTER they stick into a target!  And yer victim’s in fer a big surprise when they try and remove them barbed arrows, too.  The springs on these are verra powerful, though, and there’s a slight chance that each flare might break the arrow shaft.  Enjoy ‘em, they’re a treat fer sure!  -Jovn

In the Common language, it reads:

These bandages are special made to be used with healing potions, like the tinctures on the shelf.  Just POUR a dose ON the bandage, and then TEND yourself or someone else WITH the bandage.  Easy enough for an elf to do, so you should be fine.

You can ROLL the bandage up into a wad to just tend a wound by hand, or PULL it out straight to wrap the bandage around the wound.  Wrapping a wound can be faster sometimes, but the wound will heal slower.  If you wrap a wound, remember that you won’t be able to tend it as normal to stop bleeding until the treated bandage finishes its healing, and these bandages will NOT stop bleeding.

You don’t need any special skill to use these bandages, the potions do all the healing, but knowing some first aid never hurt when tending a wound by hand.

With the rolls of bandage cloth, you can TEAR a length away for a bandage.  The small rolls have enough to make about 10 bandages, and the large rolls enough for about 25.

Buy lots, since each bandage is only usable once.  Some git you’d have to be to reuse a dirty bandage...
