Using Runestones
All stones must be prepared before they can be used for any magic, be it scroll infusion, demon summoning or spirit summoning. The aish’vrak potion is used to prepare stones and can be purchased anywhere runestones are sold. Simply POUR the potion on the stone to be used. Runestones that are available for purchase are all pre-prepared and do not need any further preparation.
In addition to stones, you will need a rune brush, bottle of ink and flask (or cup) of water. Most often, these can be purchased in the alchemist or magic shops, along with pre-prepared runestones.
Before drawing a rune, select which rune you wish to draw. Those listed under RUNE COMMON are those you are able to create. The runes with such names as celestial, luck, solar, dune and other recognizable words are used for summoning spirit servants using spell 218. The quiss‘fyn, ikar’fyn, erikar’fyn, beiron’fyn, odeir’cos and ag’loenar runes are used for scroll infusion, spell 714. The lorae’tyr, grik’tyr and shien’tyr runes are used for minor demon summoning, spell 725.
Also among the common runes is the wy’zio rune, also known as the “forget” rune. It is so named because the wy’zio rune is used to forget the runes listed under RUNE UNCOMMON. These runes are ones that were taught to you by another or you have learned and are, naturally, uncommon.
To draw a rune, first DIP the brush in the ink, get the prepared stone to hold the rune, and DRAW the rune upon it. After time, the ink on the brush gets dry and hard, and you will need to DIP it in the water to clean it off. Both the ink and the water will run out to the point where you will need to replace them. Inks in different bottles may be poured into each other.
Runestones have a variable amount of charges within them before they crumble into powder. The number of charges available in a runestone is directly related to the value of the stone. A purchased runestone or a prepared stone have the same value. Merchants may offer runestones of greater value, which will have more charges available. The type of rune drawn also plays a part in determining the number of charges available in the runestone.
To use a runestone while summoning a spirit servant, cast the spell while holding the stone. While summoning a minor demon, cast the spell at the rune. To prepare a scroll for scroll infusion, wave the correct runestone at the scroll to be infused. To infuse the scroll, hold the ag’loenar runestone in your hand with the scroll in the other and INFUSE the scroll.
